DSHA Merry-Go-Round Show
The DSHA December 10-11 Merry-Go-Round
Show held at WestWorld was a very successful
show. With 107 horses entered and classes
for Peruvian Pasos, Paso Finos, Tennessee
Walking Horses, Missouri Fox Trotters,
American Saddlebreds, Academy Horses and
Riders, Morgans, and Friesians and classes
for novice to professionals it offered
something for everybody. With 15 Peruvian
Paso horses exhibited if was the largest
turnout of Peruvian Paso horses at a
Merry-Go-Round show for the past few years.
16 Year Old Struts His Stuff
For those who might think that only
youngsters remain in the show arena Rayo De
CZR, owned by Liz and Bernie Potof, will
tell you otherwise. Rayo affectionately
known as "Gray Boy" will turn 16
next year. [editor note: this article was
written in 2005] His
elegant, ground covering form, awesome
reach, and advance while remaining
incredibly smooth earned him the Peruvian
Paso Breeding Stallion 1st place.
Congratulations Liz and Bernie.
Father And Son Dues for Best Gaited
I had the pleasure of seeing BEL
Sagitario as a weanling in Texas. As a 5
year old he has clearly emerged as a serious
show contender. Demonstrating the tremendous
way of going he has clearly inherited from
his sire, Rayo De CZR, the Peruvian Paso
100% Gait class proved to be one of the most
competitive of the show. With 10 good
representatives of the breed it was a tough
class. Winning 1st place was Rayo De CZR,
and BEL Sagitario was 2nd. BEL Sagitario
also won the Peruvian Paso Zootecnico and
Peruvian Paso Luxury Gelding and was 2nd in
the Peruvian Paso Open Performance.
Bellissima Farms Beauty Wins Big
BFII Luna Azul, bred by Bellissima Farms,
is a beautiful gray mare with tremendous
brio, very feminine beauty and lots of
action. She has that "always on parade
attitude" that combined with an awesome work
ethic makes her a winner and a pleasure to
watch. She is a very versatile mare
competing successfully in breeding,
performance, and gait divisions. Winning the
Peruvian Paso Breeding Mare and Peruvian
Paso Open Performance titles, and placing
3rd in the very competitive Peruvian Paso
100% Gait class were big kudos for her
trainer and rider Vilora Marshall-Walker
and owner Susie Levy.
Not to be outdone, fellow riders
Michael Walker and Melanie Nelson
held back the competition. Melanie
even though it was her first show, delivered
the goods riding Tobias De Bellissima and
placing 1st in Peruvian Paso Novice/Jr
Exhibitor, and 2nd in Peruvian Paso Amateur
Rider and Luxury Gelding, and 5th in
Peruvian Paso 100% Gait. Michael Walker
experienced hand that he is showed off his
winning form on Don Gato CM by his 1st in
Peruvian Paso Amateur Rider, 2nd in Peruvian
Paso Breeding Stallions, and 4th in both
Peruvian Paso Open Performance and Peruvian
Paso 100% Gait, both large classes with 9-10
entries. Congratulations to the winning team
of Susie Levy owner, Vilora
Marshall-Walker trainer and rider, and
riders Michael Walker and Melanie
Nelson.
Making Their Debut
Arturo, a gelding owner by Bettylou
Swift and ridden by Nevin McQuarrie
had a good showing by placing 3rd in
Peruvian Paso Open Performance and 4th in
Peruvian Paso Luxury Gelding. Even though it
was his first show, he had the manners and
appearance of a seasoned veteran.
Also making their debut were the team of
Tina Waddell and CCF Cimarron.
Cimarron, an award winning experienced show
veteran, owned by Bill and Becky Chase
is well known to many of the Peruvian Paso
owners. He and Tina placed 3rd in Peruvian
Paso Novice/Jr Exhibitor, 4th in Peruvian
Paso Amateur Rider, and 5th in Luxury
Gelding. Congratulations Tina on a
great ride and thank for all your hours of
hard work getting ready for the show. Also
making their debut were junior exhibitor,
Oscar Menendez riding BEL Manchita. A
dynamic team they were 2nd in Peruvian Paso
Novice/Jr Exhibitor.
Many Club Members Had a Stellar
Performance
Although we do not get to see much of
Oscar Campos, we are always thrilled
when we are able to see him at the shows.
Putting in a stellar performance were Zaza
with her 2nd in Peruvian Paso Breeding
Mares, and ROC Macarena with her 3rd in
Peruvian Paso Breeding Mares. The stallions
of Caballos De BBC, BBC Sirocco and JWF
Aficion were also exhibited. BBC Sirocco was
2nd in Peruvian Paso Zootecnico, 1st in open
breed halter and 4th in Peruvian Paso
Breeding Stallions. JWF Aficion was 3rd in
Peruvian Paso Breeding Stallions, and 3rd in
Peruvian Paso Amateur Rider. BFII El Brujo
owned by Jean Sullivan was 3rd in
Peruvian Paso Zootecnico and Open Breed
Halter. Rayo De Olympico owned by William
and Dr. Pat Haight was 3rd in Peruvian
Paso Luxury Gelding, and 5th in Peruvian
Paso Novice/Jr Exhibitor. Thanks to all our
exhibitors for a great show.

The show would not be possible without
