bang. We have two upcoming shows with two
different judges carded by the North
American Peruvian Horse Association (NAPHA).
Coming up on February 11th and 12th is the
first Merry-Go-Round Horse Show of the year
sponsored by the Desert Show Horse

will be on Saturday the 11th. Peruvian Paso
classes are: zootecnico, breeding mares,
breeding stallions, luxury geldings, open
performance, amateur performance, amateur
owner to ride performance, novice/junior
exhibitor and 100% gait. All gaited breed
classes are all gaited pleasure, all gaited
western pleasure-this class will ask for the
canter and all gaited breeds 100% gait. Any
tack can be used in the all gaited breeds
classes and training aids i.e. 4 reins are
permissible. These classes are not run by
the rules of the North American Peruvian
Horse Association. Peruvian Paso classes are

35th Annual Carousel Charity Horse
Show sponsored by Desert Show Horse
Association
This show will take place on March 16-19th
at West World Scottsdale, AZ. It is the
second show of 2006 with a carded Peruvian
Judge. Victoria Liddle Shelton has been
confirmed as the judge for the Peruvian Paso
Division and the Mangalarga Marchador
Division. Victoria has been a Peruvian Paso
owner and breeder for many years now and has
judged Peruvian Paso shows at both the
regional and national levels. We are honored
to have her. We will have classes in halter
(zootecnico), breeding, performance, gait,
and championship classes for a total of 24
classes 6 of which are championship classes.
This is a multi breed show and has been
approved by the North American Peruvian
Horse Association as an All Breed
Championship Show. The Peruvian Paso
Division will be operated in accordance with
the current official Rules and Regulations
of Horse Showing and Peruvian Paso Breed
Standards of the North American Peruvian
Horse Association. This show will confer a
minimum of double points for the NAPHA
Medallion De Plata, Medallion De Oro, and
High Point Performance Horse Awards.
Champions and Champions of Champions
selected at NAPHA approved shows including
this one are eligible for their respective
Championship classes at the 2006 and 2007
NAPHA National Shows. Champions and Champion
of Champions from 2005 NAPHA/PPHRNA shows
including the 2005 Carousel Charity Horse
Show shall be allowed to enter directly into
the appropriate Championship Class. Barn
space is at a premium as there is a
hunter/jumper show being conducted at the
same time. No exhibitor will be granted a
stall without payment received first. Please
consult the DSHA web site for the complete
list of classes. For any questions and to
make sure your name is on the list to
receive a premium please call breed rep Bill
Chase at 623-547-2206 or caballosdebbc@msn.com.
No shod horses are allowed. If your horse
currently is wearing shoes you will have to
pull them for this show. All Peruvian Pasos
entered must be registered with the AAOBPPH,
PPHRNA, NAPHA, or the Canadian Horse
Registry and a copy of the registration
papers must accompany your entry form. If
you wish to compete only in the all gaited
open classes you do not have to have shoes.
Amateur riders must have an Amateur
Declaration on file with NAPHA. This form
can be downloaded from their web site and
forms will be available at the show. This is
likely to be the only show of its caliber in
Arizona this year.
Sponsorship Money Needed
As any one who has ever been part of the
planning of a show knows, it takes a lot of
money to put on a show. The Carousel Charity
Horse Show costs over $100,000 to put on.
Our breed has only been able to maintain its
classes because of the past generosity of
its sponsors along with show entries. This
year so far Bellissima Farms International
Inc., and Caballos De BBC have each put up
$500.00 of sponsorship. We are asking that
all other Peruvian Paso owners help us out.
There are a variety of sponsorship packages
available starting at $75.00. Please contact
Becky Chase at 623-547-2206 or caballosdebbc@msn.com
to choose your class sponsorship today.
Clinic with Mary Donald
Mary will be conducting a clinic for Copper
State Peruvian Paso members at the home of
Bill and Becky Chase (Caballos De BBC) on
Sunday February 12th. For further
information please contact Julia Shepherd at
623-907-8650 or visit our web site
